Standard procedures for organized sports
Before the first practice: Make sure players paperwork is up to date
1. Sports contract (if required)
2. Physical Form
3. Insurance Form (if required)
Before every practice Make sure players have water bottles or access to water
Warm up (jog)
Stretching
These are key things I recognized that either benefitted me or hurt me as a player.
Coaching Do's
- Maintain a good relationship with the players
- Recognize the good things players do
- Keep it constructive
- Take the time to go through each new drill/play before going on to the next
- Plan practice with a purpose
- Play everyone in development leagues, this includes middle school.
- set a good example by respecting team members, referees, and opponents
Coaching Don'ts
- Yell at the players, it lowers their self esteem
- put players down
- Throw too many things at athletes at once
